We are living in a different era evidenced by a world of financial instability, weaknesses in our nation’s security tracking systems, cyber security attacks, American born extremists within our nation seeking to perform Jihad, and according to a top terrorism expert, there are new strategies being used by the Taliban and al-Qaeda to bring America down. Join me as I discuss some of these top issues of concern noted by regulatory oversight agencies and top terrorist experts.

MARY MEILE, CAMS

 

 

Mary Meile is the CEO & founder of the Anti-Money Laundering Association (AMLA) and speaks as a subject matter expert on BSA/AML emerging issues. Ms.Meile assists the financial services industry with regulatory compliance risk management, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) compliance, and specialized training. Ms. Meile offers over 22 years of experience as a Regulatory Compliance Specialist for financial institutions. She has served in the capacity of Compliance Officer, BSA/AML Compliance Officer, and Internal Audit Manager for institutions regulated by the State of Florida, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Office of Comptroller of Currency, and the Office of Thrift Supervision.  

 

 

Ms. Meile has held prior positions as a Senior Audit Manager for an $11 billion bank holding company and Internal Audit Manager for a mid size community bank.  Ms. Meile has also served in the capacity of a regulatory compliance consultant where she managed compliance programs for both large and small banks.

 

She holds the distinguished designations of a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM).

·         OFAC 2/5/2010: Balli Group PLC and Balli Aviation, Ltd. Settle Iranian Transaction Regulations and Export Administration Regulations Allegations: Balli Group PLC and Balli Aviation, Ltd. (collectively, “Balli”), London, UK have agreed to the assessment of a $15 million civil penalty to settle allegations of violations of the Iranian Transactions Regulations (the “ITR”) and the Export Administration Regulations (the “EAR”). Balli is settling the allegations pursuant to the terms of a Settlement Agreement among Balli, the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (“BIS”), and OFAC.

 

·         Aviation Services International, B.V. Settles Iran Export Allegations- $750,000.00

 

·         Industrial Maritime Carriers Worldwide, L.L.C. Settles Sudanese Sanctions Allegations: Industrial Maritime Carriers Worldwide, L.L.C. ("IMCW"), through its agent, Intermarine, L.L.C., has remitted $72,072 to settle allegations of violations of the Sudanese Sanctions Regulations
